They take an active interest in promoting values of self esteem, independence and mutual respect. Many are teaching professionals who work in Woburn and surrounding towns. The diversity in age and background of our staff helps to make the ASC “The place where kids have so much fun, they beg to stay later!”
Administrators
Co-Director Chris Serson has worked at the After School Club since 1997. She started as a substitute, became a Group Leader, and moved on to being the Swim Time Supervisor driving the children to the North Woburn pool, starting in 1997 during our first summer session. As the After School Club grew, so did the need for an additional administrator. In 2000 founder and Director Leslie Hastings recognized Chris’ management skills and put her to work in the office as her Co-Director. She has been there ever since enjoying the roles of activity planner, field trip guru, Excel queen, photograph taker, form maker, and her favorite role - bestower of hugs.
Co-Director Carolyn Sharp-Hegarty has been in the child care field for over 25 years. She was on the Board of Directors when ASC began in 1995. After over 25 years in the child care as preschool teacher, childcare director, group leader, after school site director and Education Coordinator, Carolyn rejoined the staff as a Group Leader in 2005. She became Co-Director in February of 2008 after the retirement of founder Leslie Hastings. Carolyn is the person to go to for questions about tuition as well as fundraisers and financial assistance for ASC. In addition to working at ASC, Carolyn is an Instructional Assistant in the Lexington Public School system and VBS Coordinator for both United Methodist Church and Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Mary Girardi is our Office Administrator and has been keeping us organized since 2002. She maintains the files and records assuring that all are free of error and up to date. She ensures that all children are accounted for and have made it safely into the building. She is the go to person for any questions concerning whereabouts, how tos and what ifs. Mary also fills in for group leaders and is quick to offer help wherever it may be needed. Her fun loving spirit keeps us all upbeat.
